2019 AGM

Welcome to the 2019 AGM of Glasgow University Staff Golf Club.

 Held in The Bothy, Ruthven Lane on Friday 13th March 2020

Minutes of the 2018 AGM, held on 8th March 2019 having now been posted on the Club’s website where read in full and then Proposed by Anne Terry and Seconded by Henry Elliott as a full and faithful record.

 Matters arising

1. Increase of yearly subs to £30.  To keep in line with our Ferguson Bequest funding it was proposed that our yearly subs should be increased by £5 to £30.  This was agreed unanimously around the table.

Secretary’s Report:

Ancient Universities Golf Match

The 80th Scottish Ancient Universities match took place on Sunday 14th & Monday 15th April 2019.

Day 1 result (Royal Montrose): Glasgow 4 v 2 Aberdeen.

After the match, the Glasgow team headed to The Burn in anticipation of an exciting climax to The Masters on TV.  However due to weather warnings at Augusta, The Masters was brought forward and finished soon after we arrived.  A fun evening was had, with a meal, a few drams in the lounge and MOTD on the TV.

Day 2 result (Edzell): Glasgow 2.5 v 3.5 Edinburgh.

Glasgow team: Ian Salt (Captain), Alistair Gracie, Chris Taylor, Neil Bulleid, Ian Reid, and Gordon Lindsay.

Thanks to Ian Reid as always for organising the event.

Senate Match:     

The Senate Match was played on Friday 29th May 2019 at Newmachar.

Glasgow team : Iain Thayne (Captain), Anne Terry, Laurie Hunter, Alistair Bonnington, Neil Bulleid, John Oliver, Hugh Elder, Gavin Halbert and Ian Salt.

Thanks to Glasgow captain– our very Iain Thayne and Aberdeen captain Jamie Weir for bringing the event together.

East v West

 The match was played at Glen Bervie on Tuesday 27th August 2019.

Result: East 3.5 v 10.5 West

Team: Chris Taylor, Ian Gardner, Brian Eden, Stuart Fair, Stuart Mackenzie, Cam McIntyre, David Still, Moira Still, Gavin Halbert and Bob Lamb.

Hugh Elder spoke about The Senate Match and made aware that it is open to everyone in the staff golf club (not just senate members), and encouraged members to take part in this historic and fun event.
