Matters arising
- Slow play/golf etiquette at outings. A reminder was made about avoiding slow play at outings. It was suggested that if in doubt a provisional ball should be played, and less time should be spent looking for golf balls. Outings are fun events, and Stableford format should help to keep things moving. “No Fannying about”.

- Senate Match
(Match report by Iain Thayne)
Friday 10th June, was the date for the annual Senate Match between Glasgow and Aberdeen. Gailes was the venue. John Oliver had done a brilliant job in local arrangements, conditions were, by local standards benign, the rough was down, and the heather had been thrashed to within a nanometre of its life. The Glasgow captain had rostered a great team of Bill Sutherland, Chris Taylor, Laurie Hunter, Anne Terry, John Oliver, Gordon Lindsay, Ian Salt, Anne Cumberland….. and himself, and with the honour of selecting the pairings, all was set fair – what could possible prevent a great Glasgow victory.
Things started well, with Bill Sutherland out first securing a rousing 6&5 victory. Next up, Chris Taylor had a great match, with the only honourable outcome being a half. Things were looking good. But then, our middle order and tail-enders were exposed to the full ferocity of our Northern colleagues golfing prowess. Anne Cumberland shone with a stunning 8&6 victory. Otherwise, it didn’t work out so well.
The final score was Aberdeen 6 ½ Glasgow 2 ½.
(Senate report penned by Iain Thayne – Thanks for organising the event).
